Frontenac Youth Services presently operates nine Day Treatment programs:  eight within the Durham area and one program within the Newcastle area, available to adolescents who are 12-18 years of age (male or female).  Two of the classrooms are dedicated to children/adolescents classifed as "Dual Diagnosed".

The classrooms are located in mainstream high schools, elementary schools as well as being located in a segregated “school-like” facility.

The maximum adolescent population per class varies depending upon the school setting and each class contains a Teacher and a Child and Youth Counsellor.  Adolescents are placed in classes that represent their age group and academic level.

Prior to admission to the program a Goal Setting Meeting is established whereby specific goal areas are discussed and rated (scale 1-10) academically and socially (for the adolescent and family).  The goal areas are reviewed three times (Treatment Reviews) during the academic calendar year and are used as a barometer for integration back to a community academic program.

The Treatment Reviews request the attendance of all professionals involved with the adolescent and family and encourage the adolescent to actively participate in the planning and/or revisions of goal areas.

The “length of stay” for an adolescent in the Day Treatment Program varies depending upon the needs of the adolescent.  The program specifically accents the integration process and has the ability to transfer adolescents from segregated to integrated programs to accelerate progress into mainstream programs.

All Frontenac Day Treatment programs operate in partnership with the Durham District School Board and the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board.
