We are making a difference . . .

A young man first came to Frontenac Youth Services struggling with a severe mental health diagnosis, which had significantly affected his life at home, school and within the community. Relationship at home with his mother, who was coping with her own mental health concerns, was deteriorating rapidly further compounding the stresses in his life. Consequently, he was performing poorly at school, even though he was very bright and had the potential to be a good student and productive member of society.

During the two and a half years he spent at Frontenac Youth Services, this young man was able to utilize several of our therapeutic services, including the residential program and day treatment, and individual and art therapy to deal with his mental health challenges. He stayed at one of our residences for a year and had regular weekly sessions with his therapist throughout his stay with us. As a result, this young man's condition stabilized quickly, and he was able to set and achieve goals for himself.

In fact, over a short period of months this young man had made tremendous gains, to be able to graduate from high school with honours. With this great achievement under his belt and new strategies learnt to deal with his mental health concerns, this young man is now planning to enroll at Trent University, to study for his bachelor's degree majoring in either Philosophy or Anthropology. At his high school graduation, this young man delivered a very sincere and inspiring thank you speech to the audience that was heartfelt and moving. His school community, teachers and fellow students, had been supportive when he was struggling with his disorder. He outlined the progress he had made, the milestones reached, the triumphs he achieved and especially thanked Frontenac Youth Services for all that we did to make that day possible.

With your financial assistance we can help even more children and youth struggling with mental health disorders…won't you help?
