collaboratively provide
this service to the Durham Region with the support of the The Ministry of
Community and Social Services - Ministry of Children and Youth
Services
This program offers timely
accessible service to children, youth and their families in their home,
school and communities. Intensive Services uses formal and informal supports and
linkages to other services and family and community supports.
Intensive support is given to children and youth who are at risk of
losing their place in the family home, school or childcare. In-home
support can be given to parents regarding parenting, child management and
family relationships.
Referral criteria includes:
- risk of child/adolescent not remaining in the
home
- multiple need family, including frequent users
of service system
- child/adolescent needs intensive support
- child/adolescent exhibiting acute crisis, should not go on waitlists
for other services
Program supports include individual and family counselling,
case management, links to community supports.
Durham Region Crisis Response is a community based service offering
crisis line and mobile crisis response for children, youth and their
families. A child, youth or family member can call when a child/youth to
age 18 is experiencing a crisis that is not imminently life threatening
but requires immediate intervention such as depression, anxiety, suicidal
thoughts or aggressive behaviour etc. This service is provided by the
following partnering agencies: Frontenac Youth Services, Chimo Youth
Services, Durham Mental Health Services and Kinark Child and Family
Services.
