Families and adolescents will be asked to complete a comprehensive telephone interview with Centralized Intake
prior to an assessment. (Centralized Intake -

It is seen as critically important that Frontenac Youth Services remains closely linked to the larger clinical, education and social community.  All agencies involved with each adolescent are invited to Treatment Review meetings and regular contact is maintained with school personnel, Probation Officers and Children's Aid Society Workers.

THERAPY SESSIONS

The Community Services Program consists of the following types of therapy:

Individual:

A therapist meets with candidate on a weekly or bi-weekly basis

Group Therapy:

Adolescents in a group, parents in a group or a number
of families together in a multi-family group

Family Therapy:

An individual family meets with a family therapist on a weekly
or bi-weekly basis.

Parents Therapy:

The therapist meets with the parents each week or bi-weekly
to establish a better communication.

Staff members of the Community Services Program treat Outpatient families in addition to families of the adolescents involved in the Residential and Day Treatment Programs. Treatment goals are set up in the first therapy session and are reviewed regularly. Staff members also regularly review progress in each family in multi-disciplinary staff meetings. Treatment adjustments can be made with agreement from all parties, with the input from both the parents and adolescent being considered a vital part of the planning.

The following services are also available through the multi-disciplinary process to all adolescents and their families:

  • Psychiatric Consultation
  • Psychometric Assessments (cognitive and personality)
  • Psychoeducational Assessments
  • Art Therapy
  • Other Extra-Agency Consultations
